High-stakes business pitch contest at Madison High

"Business Pitch Contest"

A business pitch contest is set to take place at Madison High School, Rexburg. There are five participating student teams who have invested a year into preparing for this event. The stakes are high as the victor will walk away with a $1,000 prize.

The event is overseen by Jeremy Carlson, a previous winner, with guidance from Jennifer Barzee, an advisor for the Business Professionals of America at the high school. The function aims to ignite a passion for business education among the students.

The competition will see students at various stages of their business ventures. Some are enacting their plans, while others are still refining their ideas. Regardless, all participants are encouraged to apply their knowledge and showcase their entrepreneurship skills.

Throughout the year, students had the chance to take part in workshops with local business owners who shared advice regarding finance, patents, and marketing strategies.

Business pitch contest breeds young entrepreneurs

This interaction provided a conducive environment for creativity and innovation as well as invaluable insights into the business world.

A sophomore participant, Ethan Hathaway, continues to keep his unique business pitch under wraps. Despite the secrecy, his endeavor has caught the attention of peers and facilitators alike. His venture, along with others, are the attraction of this competition.

The panel of judges, local experts, are excited to see the growth and impact each contestant has had over the year. They are eager to tap into the potential of their city’s entrepreneurs.

Barzee asserts that the contest aims to build confidence amongst the students as well as provide some financial support for their future academic and business pursuits. The competition’s major goal is to help students understand the practical application of their studies by bridging the gap between academic theories and real-world business operations.

Meanwhile, the audience, although having a minimal role in deciding the winner, brings a depth of unpredictability to the event. Their involvement introduces a thrilling dimension, giving them exposure to real-world business operations, engaging them in the spirit of entrepreneurship, and, potentially, inspiring them to begin their ventures.

The host of the contest, Carlson, adds to the excitement and prestige of the competition, causing the competitors to intensify their pitch preparations. In essence, the business pitch contest serves as a perfect platform to breed an entrepreneurial mindset among the student body and foster a thriving local business environment.
