From a product manager: "Teams are small and have a lot of autonomy, and it's amazing to see how much of a difference a single person can make at this place."

They're high-flying technology businesses that hire smart, hardworking people and give them the autonomy they need to make a difference. They care about their employees, demonstrating a significant degree of professional interest and compassion, as well as corporate ethics. And they hold their customers in high regard, which motivates staffers to "bring their best" every day. As a result, they are the very best tech companies to work for anywhere, according to a recent ranking from Glassdoor, a jobs and career community. The following list of the top 10 companies was compiled as part of Glassdoor's annual Employees' Choice Awards/Best Places to Work honors, which include both tech and nontech organizations. You may be surprised (or not) to find that the No. 1 overall company has been ranked at the top for two out of three years. The companies were selected based solely on the input of employees who opted to provide feedback to Glassdoor about their jobs and employers, with nearly half a million company reviews submitted for consideration. Companies were rated according to workplace factors such as career opportunities, compensation and benefits, work/life balance, senior management, culture and values. (In tomorrow's slideshow, we'll let you know which tech businesses rounded out Glassdoor's top 20 list.)
