Accelerator Fund Winners

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has rewarded the first winners of the 2024 Growth Accelerator Fund Competition each with $50,000. These winners are recognized for their innovative strategies to boost small business growth and create a nationally unified innovation ecosystem. Through such efforts, they contribute significantly to diverse sectors worldwide.

Award recipients come from a wide range of sectors, reflecting the SBA’s commitment to nurture diverse talent. All winners exemplify promising innovations that could significantly contribute to their respective sectors. The competition offers participants an excellent platform to grow their businesses through proper strategic planning and financial management.

Commenting on the winners, SBA Administrator Isabel Casillas Guzman praised their role as critical players in the next innovation wave in America.

She also underlined the importance of their contributions in fostering new ideas and entrepreneurial spirit, thus strengthening the national economy.

Stressing the important role of growth accelerators in helping entrepreneurs achieve growth and scalability, Guzman stated that the GAFC competition has, over the course of ten years, highlighted the essential role of these players. She also emphasized that the competition facilitates an economy that thrives on innovation and is accessible to all, with the winners actively shaping America’s competitive landscape.

Participants of the GAFC were required to align their submissions with one of three Thematic Areas: National and Economic Security, Domestic Manufacturing and Production, or Sustainability and Biotechnology. This ensures that all contributions are relevant to the GAFC’s core research interests.

The second stage of the competition, set to start in June, offers extra funds between $50,000 to $150,000 in support of growth accelerators aiding entrepreneurs to convert their R&D initiatives into market-ready products. More substantial funding will be offered in the third and final stage of the competition to facilitate collaborations in the innovation sector.

Since its launch in 2014, the Growth Accelerator Fund Competition has given out 427 awards, totaling over $26 million, to 314 unique winners. In 2024, the competition intends to donate over $30 million in awards, demonstrating its profound impact on entrepreneurial growth and job creation.
