Emerging entrepreneur hosts youth business contest

Entrepreneur Contest

Emerging entrepreneur, Jeremy Carlson, winner of the ‘Entrepreneurs in the making’ contest, is preparing to host a business pitch competition in Rexburg on April 21, 2024. A grand opportunity for high school students to bring forth their unique business concepts, with a rewarding cash prize of $1,000 for the ultimate winner.

An initiative aimed to stimulate the entrepreneurial spirit within the youth of Rexburg, the competition invites interested participants to submit their comprehensive business plans by April 10, 2024. Notably, the presentation should encompass crucial aspects such as an executive summary, operational, financial, and marketing strategies.

The judging panel comprises accomplished entrepreneurs and industry veterans, tasked to assess the contestants based on the soundness of their business plans and their flair for innovation.

Jeremy Carlson commits to mentoring the winner personally, highlighting the importance of this guidance, which he describes, could offer priceless industry insights and direction. This mentoring support, he believes, can help turn the business pitches into reality.

Five student participants, Lachlyn Golder, Ace Ingram, Lydia Woodall, Addison “Gecko” Cates, and Ethan Hathaway, are hard at work, mentored by knowledgeable industry professionals, and refining their pitches.

Advancing youth entrepreneurship through competition

The mentor’s roles go beyond guidance and include helping with critical industry contacts and providing insights for real-world business implementation.

The venue for the competition is Suite 10, located at 3878 Jake Way, starting at 7 p.m. It promises to be a monumental learning experience, encouraging creativity, business perception, and presentation skills among these future business personalities.

The contest, spearheaded by Jennifer Barzee, the advisor of Business Professionals of America, is designed to foster an environment conducive to innovation, mentorship, and growth.

A unique aspect of the competition is the nominal entry fee of just $1. The catch? The funds gathered from ticket sales will subtly influence the final voting process.

Interestingly, the contest is more than just a competition. It serves to boost the confidence of participants, providing them a unique opportunity to demonstrate their entrepreneurial skills. Whether one wins or not, participation in the competition is a valuable asset for their future educational and professional endeavors.
