Two of the five this year’s most-improved vendors in our 2008 Vendor Value study are telecom vendors. But they seem to have improved at the expense of their competitors.

- Sprint Nextel’s challenges on the service side, its value proposition is clearly attractive to IT execs, boosting it three spots to No. 1 this year.
- Verizon Wireless is the most flexible and responsive vendor in the category, maintaining its runner-up slot from last year.
- A solid value score helped Qwest jump two spots to the top three, its highest ranking in the past four years.
- T-Mobile was one of the five vendors that dropped most in this year’s study, falling three places from the top spot in 2007.
- AT&T moved up two spots this year on the back of strong loyalty ratings, but it still hasn’t cracked the top four in as many years.
