People who aren’t rich but are still incredibly happy with life typically display these 8 behaviors

We’re often told that happiness comes with a big bank account, that more money equals more joy.

It’s easy to get swept up in that idea, chasing the next dollar, thinking it’ll bring us closer to real happiness.

But then, I’ve met people who don’t have tons of money, yet they seem to radiate this genuine joy that defies all that.

They taught me something big: happiness isn’t about cash—it’s about how you live, the people around you, and the experiences that fill your life.

Here are eight things I’ve noticed about how they live that make all the difference.

1) Embracing the present moment

We live in a world that is always pushing us to focus on the future.

Whether it’s saving for retirement or planning for a vacation, it’s easy to forget about the now.

Yet, the happiest people I’ve met are expertly skilled at living in the present.

They’re not preoccupied with the wealth they might accumulate in the future or stressed about their financial constraints.

Instead, they relish the joy of current experiences and relationships.

This isn’t to say that they neglect their responsibilities or fail to plan for the future.

Rather, they understand that life is happening now and choose to fully participate in it.

This ability to embrace the present moment creates a richness in their lives that money can’t buy.

They understand that happiness is a choice available to them right now, not something that will magically appear when they have more money.

So take a leaf out of their book. Live in the present. Experience it fully. Start now.

2) Prioritizing relationships over riches

In my journey, I’ve come to realize that the happiest people place an extraordinary value on their relationships.

They understand that while money can buy comfort, it can’t purchase genuine connection.

A study found that strong social relationships significantly enhance overall well-being and longevity, underscoring the importance of nurturing our connections with others.

These individuals invest time and energy in nurturing their relationships, enjoying the simple pleasures of companionship and shared experiences.

They are present in their interactions, fully engaging in conversations rather than being distracted by material concerns.

They know the truth of what writer Mark Twain once said: “The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else up.”

By focusing on others and fostering deep connections, they create a wealth of joy that is far more fulfilling than any amount of money can provide.

So, let’s start prioritizing our relationships over riches.

After all, it’s our connections with others that truly enrich our lives.

3) Engaging in continuous self-growth

People who radiate happiness understand the importance of continuous self-growth.

They don’t shy away from confronting their fears or challenging their limiting beliefs. Instead, they see these as opportunities for transformation and personal development.

There’s a powerful tool I’ve been involved in creating that can assist in this journey, the “Free Your Mind” masterclass with shaman Rudá Iandê.

This enlightening course is designed to help you transcend societal conditioning and restrictive beliefs, fostering greater authenticity and freedom in your life.

Rudá guides participants through exercises that dismantle common spiritual pitfalls and myths, encouraging you to develop a personal cosmovision free from manipulation.

A significant part of the course focuses on overcoming self-imposed limitations, promoting a mindset shift from frustration and guilt towards love and acceptance.

The insights you gain will help you align your thoughts and actions with your personal values, leading to improved mental clarity and emotional resilience.

If you’re interested in breaking free from societal conditioning and embracing your true potential, I highly recommend checking out this masterclass.

So why wait?

Begin your journey towards mental and emotional liberation now.

Embrace continuous self-growth. Your future self will thank you.

4) Being honest with themselves

People who embody happiness aren’t afraid of honesty.

They understand that facing the truth, no matter how uncomfortable, is key to personal growth and authentic living.

They don’t shy away from their flaws or mistakes.

Instead, they confront them head-on, seeing them as opportunities to learn and evolve.

This raw honesty with themselves allows them to break free from societal conditioning and self-imposed limitations, similar to what’s taught in the “Free Your Mind” masterclass.

This kind of honesty leads to a powerful form of freedom – the freedom to be yourself, unapologetically and without fear.

It’s not easy, it’s often uncomfortable, but it’s always worth it.

Now ask yourself, are you being truly honest with yourself?

Are there truths you’re avoiding that are holding you back from achieving your full potential and happiness?

5) Embracing failure as a learning experience

Many of us dread failure.

We see it as an indication of our shortcomings and a stain on our achievements.

But the people I’ve met who are truly happy with life, irrespective of their wealth, view failure differently.

They see failure as an opportunity for growth and learning.

A study found that individuals with a growth mindset, who perceive failure as a chance to improve, report higher levels of life satisfaction and resilience, demonstrating the positive impact of this perspective on overall well-being.

To them, every setback is a chance to reflect, adapt, and evolve.

They understand that failure is not a reflection of their worth but rather a stepping stone towards success.

It’s not about avoiding obstacles but rather about embracing them.

They see each challenge as a seed of creative possibility, an opportunity to innovate and find solutions that align with their deepest values.

So rather than fearing failure, embrace it. Learn from it. Grow from it.

Because when you view failure as feedback rather than defeat, you’re on the path to genuine happiness and personal growth.

6) Expressing gratitude for the simple things

Gratitude is a powerful force.

It shifts our focus from what we lack to what we already have, cultivating a sense of contentment and joy.

Those who aren’t necessarily wealthy but are incredibly happy with life understand the transformative power of gratitude.

They appreciate the simple pleasures in life – a beautiful sunset, a meaningful conversation with a friend, or even a warm cup of coffee in the morning.

Their happiness isn’t reliant on grand achievements or material success.

Instead, they find joy and fulfillment in everyday moments.

This active expression of gratitude fosters a profound sense of satisfaction that isn’t dependent on external circumstances.

It’s about recognizing and appreciating the value in what they already have right here and now.

So start expressing gratitude for the simple things.

It’s a small change that can make a big difference in your overall happiness.

7) Making conscious financial decisions

Financial choices aren’t just personal decisions without broader impact.

The people who live joyful lives, regardless of their wealth, comprehend this.

They make conscious financial decisions that align with their values, understanding that every dollar spent is a vote for the kind of world they want to live in.

Research indicates that individuals who prioritize spending on experiences and ethical consumption tend to report higher levels of happiness and life satisfaction, emphasizing the emotional rewards of aligning financial choices with personal values.

They may not be rich, but they use their resources wisely, directing their money towards businesses and initiatives that promote social good.

This conscious consumption and investment contribute to a more just and sustainable future.

In this, they find a different kind of prosperity – one that resonates with their deep values and contributes to a larger purpose.

So consider making conscious financial decisions.

Align your spending with your values and see how it changes your perspective on wealth and happiness.

8) Cultivating supportive communities

Finally, those who are truly happy understand the importance of supportive communities and authentic relationships.

They don’t isolate themselves or prioritize individual success over communal well-being.

Instead, they invest in building strong relationships and communities.

Through these connections, they find the courage to pursue their dreams, the resilience to overcome challenges, and the joy of shared experiences.

They understand that we are interdependent beings and that our happiness is intertwined with the happiness of others.

So invest in your community.

Build meaningful relationships.

No one thrives alone.

Embracing a richer definition of happiness

In this article, we’ve explored the behaviors of individuals who may not be rich in monetary terms, yet they lead lives rich with happiness.

They teach us that happiness is less about our material wealth and more about our relationships, our attitude towards life, and our commitment to personal growth.

These individuals display an incredible capacity for embracing the present moment, placing relationships above riches, engaging in continuous self-growth, and being brutally honest with themselves.

They appreciate failure as a learning experience, express gratitude for the simple things, make conscious financial decisions, and cultivate supportive communities.

For those inspired to delve deeper into these principles and foster their own journey of self-growth, I highly recommend the “Free Your Mind” masterclass with Rudá Iandê.

This masterclass, which I had the privilege to help produce, provides valuable tools to transcend limiting beliefs and societal conditioning.

Rudá Iandê guides participants through exercises that challenge common spiritual myths, fostering a personal cosmovision free from manipulation.

Participants will learn to overcome self-imposed limitations and align their thoughts and actions with their values.

Embracing these principles will guide you towards a fulfilling and authentic life.

So if you’re ready to redefine your concept of happiness and discover a richness beyond material wealth, I invite you to join this masterclass.

Remember, true happiness isn’t dependent on your bank account but on how you choose to live your life.

So start now. Embrace these behaviors. Cultivate a happier life.
