Jidu Auto has unveiled its new V2.0 software at the AI Driving Conference in Chengdu, China. The software will debut on the Jidu 07 model and marks a step toward advancing intelligent driving with large-scale autonomous systems. The company has integrated Baidu’s Apollo Autonomous Driving Framework Model (ADFM), a Level 4 autonomous driving technology, making Jidu the first global smart EV brand to adopt this advanced system.

This integration promises fully unmanned driving capabilities. Joe Xia, CEO of Jidu Auto, said, “Thanks to the deep integration between Baidu’s ADFM and Jidu Auto, this is the world’s first large-scale autonomous driving model supporting fully unmanned driving applications.”

The V2.0 software is the most significant update for all Jidu Auto models, featuring more than a dozen key modules to enhance smart driving capabilities. This update introduces end-to-end large-scale model smart driving, positioning Jidu Auto as a key player in the advanced autonomous vehicle market.

The Chinese brand Jiyue, a joint venture between Geely and Baidu, has started pre-sales for its second vehicle model, the Jiyue 07 electric sedan. The car is available starting from 215,900 yuan (around 27,500 euros). The rear-wheel-drive version features a 400V architecture with a maximum output of 200 kW.

The dual-motor version includes an additional 200 kW motor on the front axle and an 800-volt architecture. The more affordable versions come with a 71.4 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, offering a CLTC range of 660 km. Higher-specified versions are fitted with a 100 kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery, providing a range of 880 km for the single-motor version and 770 km for the dual-motor version.

The Jiyue 07 is built on Geely’s SEA platform, which is also used for Zeekr models, the Polestar 4, and Volvo EX models. The sedan measures 4.95 meters in length, 1.99 meters in width, and 1.48 meters in height, with a wheelbase of 3.01 meters, offering a spacious interior. Inside, the Jiyue 07 boasts a high-tech design with a yoke-style steering wheel and a 35.6-inch 6K screen that can be configured as a full screen, dual screen, or triple screen.

The screen spans from the center of the driver’s side to the center of the passenger’s side. The vehicle is equipped with version 2.0 of ASD (Apollo Self Driving), Baidu’s high-end intelligent driving system. The service requires a subscription costing 599 yuan (76 euros) per month, but it is free for the first three months.

Alternatively, during a limited introductory phase, it can be purchased permanently for 4999 yuan (635 euros), with the regular purchase price later set at 29,900 yuan (3,800 euros). After a brief pre-sale phase, the Jiyue 07 will officially go on sale on September 10.

The pre-sale strategy is part of a typical three-stage process commonly used by manufacturers in China to generate marketing momentum. Jiyue, the electric vehicle (EV) maker created by Baidu in partnership with Geely Holding Group, has announced the commencement of pre-sales for its second model, the Jiyue 07 electric sedan. Pre-sales began yesterday, with the starting price set at RMB 215,900 ($30,300).

The model is scheduled to officially go on sale on September 10. The Jiyue 07 is a C-class all-electric sedan and follows the brand’s first model, the Jiyue 01 SUV. The Jiyue 07 measures 4,953 mm in length, 1,989 mm in width, and 1,475 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,013 mm.

For comparison, the latest Tesla Model 3 is smaller, featuring a length of 4,720 mm, width of 1,848 mm, height of 1,442 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,875 mm. A standout feature of the Jiyue 07 is the Apollo 2.0 smart driving system, available for a standard price of RMB 29,900. Currently, customers can purchase the system at a discounted price of RMB 4,999, or choose a monthly subscription option priced at RMB 599.

The Jiyue 07 offers two battery pack options with capacities of 71.4 kWh and 100 kWh. These options provide ranges of 660 kilometers, 770 kilometers, and 880 kilometers respectively. Jiyue is a rebranded entity originally known as Jidu.

The joint venture between Geely and Baidu was established in March 2021, initially owned 55 percent by Baidu and 45 percent by Geely. In August 2023, the new brand Jiyue was launched. Currently, Geely owns 65 percent of the operating entity, with the remaining 35 percent owned by a Baidu subsidiary.

Despite its recent inception, Jiyue’s sales performance remains modest, and specific delivery figures have not yet been disclosed.
