Astro’s Playroom update adds Gran Turismo bot

Gran Turismo bot

PlayStation 5 gamers have been treated to a free update for Astro’s Playroom. The update introduces a new special bot themed around Gran Turismo. To find the bot, players need to head to the Cooling Springs area in Astro’s Playroom.

Once there, they should go to the pier at the beginning of the level. Next, players should head to the beach on the left. They should look under the palm tree on the right side of the beach.

From the palm tree, players should proceed to the far left of the beach. There, they will find the Gran Turismo bot. Upon finding the bot, players will unlock the “Grand Tourist” trophy.

This is the third special bot released as part of a series of updates leading up to the launch of a new game on September 6.

Astro adds Gran Turismo challenge

The first two bots, Hunter and Selene, were released in the past couple of months.

They can be found in the GPU Jungle’s Renderforest and the SSD Speedway’s Deep Dataspace area, respectively. The final bot in the series is set to launch in early September. These special updates aim to help Astro prepare for his latest adventure in the upcoming game.

Astro’s Playroom, which comes pre-installed on every PS5, serves as both a tech demo for the DualSense controller and a celebration of PlayStation’s history. The game is filled with references to PlayStation’s past, including a special area that showcases PlayStation hardware items collected through gameplay. Despite Gran Turismo being PlayStation’s best-selling franchise, references to it have been minimal in Astro’s Playroom until now.

The new Gran Turismo-themed bot challenge aims to change that, offering a nostalgic nod to the racing game series. The special bots collected through these challenges will play a role in future gameplay. Rescuing them now will unlock them in the new game upon its launch on September 6.
