Google has started rolling out the August 2024 security update for the Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2. The update comes with the build number TWD9.240805.001.A2 for all four models of the smartwatch. The update is based on Wear OS 4 and will be delivered in phases over the next week.
Users should see the “August 5, 2024” security patch level on their Pixel Watch after installing the update. However, some users have reported seeing the date as “July 5, 2024” instead. The update primarily includes the monthly security patch and does not introduce any major new features.

Users will receive a notification on their watch once the software update is available for their device. To manually check for the update, users can go to Settings > System > System updates and tap on “Your watch is up to date.” To speed up the download process, users can disable Bluetooth to force a Wi-Fi connection.
It is worth noting that the Pixel Watch series is still running on Wear OS 4, while the Galaxy Watch 7 runs on a newer operating system version. Google has taken a more gradual approach in updating the Wear OS for the Pixel Watch series. However, there are speculations that the Pixel Watch 2 might receive Wear OS 5 when the Pixel Watch 3 is launched in the coming weeks or months.
The update is now live and available for download for all Pixel Watch users.
