88% of enterprises surveyed are making investments in their data centers.

A growing number of enterprises consider investments in their data centers as vital, value-adding business pursuits, according a recent survey conducted by QuinStreet Enterprise Research. The accompanying report, "2014 Data Center Outlook: Data Center Transformation—Where Is Your Enterprise?" reveals that many organizations are upgrading their data centers to provide additional capacity and capabilities for enhanced business transactions, content serving, computing capabilities and data analytics. New and significantly improved technologies are driving upgrades for modernization efforts, with much of the emphasis placed on virtualization initiatives for both storage and server functions. What did survey respondents say were the best sources for information that can aid effective data center investment strategies? Tech content sites were the No. 1 choice, followed by peers and colleagues, as well as face-to-face networking. More than 320 IT professionals and executives—all of whom are involved in the purchase process for data center hardware, software and networking products—took part in the research.
