Midsize Companies Seek Next-Gen Tech Tools

You probably wouldn't expect midsize companies--those with annual revenues of less than $1 billion—to deploy information technology at the same pace as larger enterprises. However, a new survey report from Deloitte Growth Enterprise Services, "Perspectives on Technology," indicates that these midsize businesses are recognizing the potential for mobility, the cloud and other innovative IT solutions. In fact, a clear majority of survey respondents say their executive leadership is out in front in terms of pursuing the latest technology tools, and most of them realize that IT is directly tied to competitive interests. Still, it's clear that this transition is more of an evolution than a revolution. A great many leaders of midsize companies think of technology more as a necessity than a resource for strategic innovation. Nevertheless, the overall assessment remains upbeat, with more companies expected to adopt next-generation solutions as they seek to grow their business. "New solutions tied to the cloud and mobile are allowing middle-market businesses to boost back-office productivity, reach new customers and reinforce their culture," the report states. More than 465 executives from midsize companies took part in the research.
