SAP Replaces CIO

SAP on Thursday announced that it has hired Uwe Herold as its new chief information officer.

He replaces Carol Wilson, who had been SAP’s global CIO for three years. She left in April 2006 to join Indian I.T. outsourcing giant Tata Consultancy Services as implementation director for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

Herold will be based at SAP’s headquarters in Walldorf, Germany, and report to Claus Heinrich, member of the executive board.

Most recently, Herold was CIO for German automotive parts supplier Brose Fahrzeugteile GmbH & Co., where he oversaw the implementation of various SAP applications. Before joining Brose in 1999, Herold worked for industrial parts manufacturer Hydac Filtertechnik GmbH, Germany, where he headed up the company’s process engineering and organizational development.

Herold has a degree in mechanical engineering from the Technical University of Chemnitz, Germany.
