As organizations migrate to the cloud, they need to confront new and different security concerns. At the heart of the matter are two key questions: Who is responsible for data protection in the cloud, and how can an organization achieve a best-practice approach? Security firm Thales recently contracted with Ponemon Institute to conduct a detailed study about e-security in the cloud. Not surprisingly, the research found that organizations are struggling to adapt to this emerging IT environment and have differing views about cloud security. "It's an issue that almost every company must confront," says Richard Moulds, vice president of product strategy for Thales e-Security.
