Do IT and Business Leaders Share Tech Priorities?

A growing number of business executives are getting involved in the early stages of IT purchase decision processes--an increase from a year ago, according to a recent survey from QuinStreet Enterprise,  summarized in this report, "Move Over Cloud and Mobility, Executives Have Their Eyes on New Technologies." When technology and business leaders gather to assess strategies for tech deployment, they may find that their priorities differ in certain respects. For example, IT executives rank the pursuit of cyber-security, analytics/big data and virtualization projects among their biggest objectives. Business execs certainly rank cyber-security high, but they also cite smart technology, business process management and social media initiatives as top priorities. Executives from both groups rank a lack of resources among the top tech challenges, while IT leaders admit that they often struggle with the increasing complexities of technology. The findings also shed light on what these executives turn to the most often as information sources, with both IT and business execs giving high marks to technology content sites. A total of 250 IT and business executives took part in the research.
