What the Next Generation of Workers Really Wants
While young workers are often stigmatized as being entitled and lacking a strong work ethic, a recent survey reveals that college students who anticipate joining the workforce in the next year or two convey a significant degree of employer commitment-–especially with respect to the length of time they expect to stay with their first post-graduate employer. These young people place a higher priority on career opportunities and fulfillment than they do on high salaries, but their salary expectations may be inflated, the survey finds. More than 7,940 college students who expect to graduate in 2012 or 2013 took part in the research, which is being released as a joint effort from Achievers and Experience. Achievers is an employee recognition and rewards solutions company, and Experience is a career network for U.S. colleges. For more about the survey, click here.
