It's safe to say that collaboration is increasingly the glue that holds organizations together and provides a competitive advantage. Yet, while many businesses have adopted strategies and solutions for internal collaboration, inter-enterprise collaboration remains a wild and somewhat unexplored frontier, according to the "2012 IT Decision Maker Survey," conducted online by Harris Interactive and commissioned by IntraLinks Holdings. Among other things, the survey found that external collaboration, while increasingly critical for business, faces serious hurdles and concerns--particularly in the areas of security, regulatory requirements and governance. The opportunities and the risks continue to grow.
