Employers Show Room for Improvement on Communications, Innovation
Today's workers have high standards, but most employers aren't living up to them. In fact, less than half of professionals worldwide give their companies positive marks when it comes to engagement, compensation, communication and the ability to innovate, according to a recent survey from Aon Hewitt. On the positive side, perceptions of business leadership are high, and many say working with customers is a rewarding experience. But to keep valued staffers, senior managers must keep improving their scores on prime engagement factors, according to the findings. "Our research shows that organizations with higher engagement have significantly higher total shareholder return than the average company," says Pete Sanborn, co-president of global compensation and talent at Aon Hewitt. "Organizations that focus on what matters most in connecting employees to their work will emerge as leaders, and the others will be left behind." An estimated 9.7 million employees from more than 3,100 worldwide organizations took part in the research.
