Employee Confidence Is on the Rise
Things are looking up and overall employee confidence is inching upward, to its highest level since May 2011, a new report from Randstadt finds. There's also a notable rise in the number of employees who have confidence in their ability to find a job. Yet not all trend are on the upswing, the report finds. Many employees still lack confidence in the future of their employers and in job security. But overall, the numbers are a move in the direction of optimism. "Our latest index is consistent with other positive economic indicators, such as job creation, a decrease in unemployment claims and the U.S. economy growing a higher-than-anticipated 3% in the final three months of 2011," says Joanie Ruge, senior vice president and chief employment analyst for Randstad US Holding. "Many watch employee confidence indicators because steady increases may signal rises in consumer spending — which makes up 70 percent of economic activity." More than 1,450 workers took part in the research. For more about the survey, click here.
