The following 10 organizations represent the world's largest technology companies in terms of overall market capitalization, according to research recently released by PwC. It's part of PwC's "Global Top 100" report, which ranks the world's 100 largest companies across all sectors. Among the interesting revelations: Four tech players made the overall top 10 list. And, taken as a whole, the top 100 companies represent a total market cap of $13.6 trillion. The following 10 tech organizations are achieving new levels of success because of the worldwide demand for IT innovations among all types of companies—from "heartland of America" mainstays to the most "techno-hip" companies in cyber-space today. "Constant innovation and the growing impact of technology in our day-to-day lives are the principal drivers for the overall success of technology companies," says Raman Chitkara, who leads PwC's global technology practice. "Increased global footprint from existing brands like Walmart and McDonald's—and disruptions caused by new e-commerce players like Amazon and eBay to access purchasers in new and innovative ways—has helped drive massive growth."
