A new report by Gartner, titled Dataquest Alert: Utilities, Healthcare and Government Lead IT Spending Growth in Challenging 2009, details where IT spending is headed. Gartner analysts expect overall worldwide IT spending growth of one-half of one percent, and an essentially flat U.S. growth rate of 0.1 percent.

As green initiatives grow, so does investment in IT. Growth will be slightly less than global par in the U.S., with 2.8 percent projected gain.
