To stay competitive, organizations are increasingly seeking to establish a strong presence in both mobile and Web platforms. In the process, however, most face challenges in attempting to deliver a reliable and consistent digital experience, according to a recent survey from Perfecto Mobile. The accompanying report, "Why Apps Succeed," states that the majority of businesses deploy a single unified team to conduct both mobile and desktop Web testing. And while survey respondents said more automated testing would improve the frequency of product releases, a significant share of companies do not use automation for most mobile and Web testing. As a result, their IT departments find it difficult to keep up with the rapid pace of technology change. "A seamless, cross-device digital experience is increasingly vital to companies that want to engage with customers effectively," according to the report. "This requires organizations of all sizes to quicken the pace of development and release without decreasing the quality of those experiences. Most organizations still have a long way to go toward automating the testing of mobile and Web applications, accurately representing the user environments and adopting a test lab strategy that can scale to meet today's needs. Yet, by overcoming these challenges, an unprecedented opportunity will open up for companies to deliver memorable digital experiences to their customers." More than 1,000 enterprise-level Web and mobile professionals took part in the research.
