CA’s CIO Joins Unisys

CA has lost chief information officer Kevin Kern to Unisys.

Unisys announced on Sept. 20 that Kern would replace previous CIO John Carrow, who was named vice president of strategic client development. In addition to CA, Kern has worked at Hewlett-Packard and SAP America.

CA, meanwhile, on Sept. 25 announced that David Hansen has been promoted to chief information officer of the information-technology management software company. Hansen, who joined CA in 2002, will report to Jim Bryant, CA’s chief administrative officer.

Hansen will be in charge of CA’s global infrastructure strategy and delivery, I.T. compliance and “the internal adoption and implementation of CA solutions based on the company’s Enterprise IT Management (EITM) vision,” CA said in a press release.

Hansen was previously senior vice president for CA’s 1,400-employee worldwide presales division. Prior to CA, Hansen was in charge of information technology for the Canadian division of Bowater, a producer of newsprint and market pulp.

CA has recently experienced turnover high-level ranks, as it deals with the lingering fallout from an accounting scandal (see CA Names New CFO, CA CFO Resigns and CA’s Sales Head Resigns). In May, Mark Barrenechea, CA’s chief technology officer, left the company to become a director of Garnett & Helfrich Capital, a private-equity firm.
