The Best U.S. Cities for Tech Jobs
In pursuing a tech career, should you seek out opportunities in regions that are well-established IT havens? Or should you explore possibilities in places that aren’t as established, but are gaining a lot of momentum? The following two-part list from Dice will give you a great read on both. In fact, some of the cities on the “Top 5” fastest-growing list may surprise you. As for the “Top 10” list of overall best cities and regions for tech jobs, major metro areas—especially those on the East Coast—still dominate. But don’t discount traditional powerhouses such as Silicon Valley. Much of the strength of a local city depends on the availability of quality position candidates with Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) degrees, Dice reports. As for the overall national numbers, there were 84,605 positions posted on the IT career hub site, and 50,069 of those were full-time. There were also 36,932 contractual positions, as well as 582 telecommuting openings.
