In this volatile employment market, tech professionals currently have leverage in terms of overall demand and the ability to negotiate for more pay, according to two separate surveys released by Dice.com and Mondo. Both employment companies report very encouraging news for IT workers, with average compensation rising sharply, and hiring managers reporting that competition for talent is getting stiff. "The intense demand for highly skilled IT professionals is resulting in significant increases in the salaries for those professionals—especially those with expertise in the areas of mobile, big data, cloud computing and user-engagement skills," says Michael Kirven, founder and CEO of Mondo. "Companies are reversing the trend of outsourcing skilled IT labor overseas, and now understand that skilled IT workers who are located within their innovation centers can give them an edge." Nearly 1,000 tech-focused hiring professionals took part in the Dice research. The Mondo research is based on actual salaries compiled from more than 1,000 IT job placements.
