“While russia is good at financial fruad and credit carding and that type of thing, the South American trojans are about automated man-in-the-middle, defeating-two-factor-authentication type attacks,” he says, explaining that it was the South Americans who were the first to create malware that detected passwords from virtual keyboard programs designed to thwart rootkits.
He says it is difficult to identify specific groups down there because they change names so often, but that researchers are sure it is a relatively small pool of criminals at work there.
