PDF Download This chart and timeline show the total costs of cleansing multiple databases and migrating the information to a data warehouse. The example is based on a manufacturer that is reengineering its business processes and must upgrade almost all of its systems.

Baseline's hypothetical firm has $550 million in annual revenue, 3,000 employees and 2.25 million records. The company has divided its project into three rounds that target six databases each. Tasks include assessing data for cleanliness and completeness; mapping fields to the target warehouse; and both programmatic and manual data manipulation. Project planners may regard these tasks and costs as representative of projects of this size and scope, but should tailor assumptions to meet their own requirements.
