How to Land a Cushy Corporate I.T. Job
The public sector is looking for a few
good men—and women—to fill its
most critical technology ranks, accord-
ing to a new survey. The Partnership
for Public Service, a nonprofit group
that queried the biggest federal agen-
cies and analyzed their strategic plans,
reports that the federal government
will hire 11,562 I.T. professionals by
September 2009. The biggest boost
will come within the Department of
Defense, which plans to hire more than
7,400 workers. The new hires will take
up for a wave of Baby Boomers leaving
the payroll. Security and enforcement
remain the top hiring priority, with Uncle
Sam looking to bring on 62,000-plus
new hires.
