TECHNOSCOURGE: Free Sex Kills Porn Industry

Some might argue that gambling and pornography pioneered the art of moneymaking Web sites. Ironically, free porn sites are killing the adult entertainment industry. Just as VHS tapes led to the demise of the adult movie theater, free porn sites are undercutting subscription-based adult video and photo sites. In just nine months, YouPorn-the porn industry's answer to YouTube-became the highest-trafficked adult entertainment site worldwide and is increasing hits by nearly 40 percent per month, according to Alexa, a Web site ranking service. In fact, YouPorn's traffic is outpacing such mainstream sites as CNN.com, About.com and Weather.com. Apparently, Google isn't the only company succeeding against entrenched competitors by giving away services.
