What You Should Do: Joining E-Marketplaces
Before agreeing to join an online marketplace:
Evaluate its operations. Make sure the marketplace improves processes in which you're already involved
Compare returns. Figure out whether a marketplace formed by others will generate a higher return than investing inside your own company
Consider the law. Review the nature of collaboration to make sure it doesn't draw antitrust attention
Evaluate security. Your own operations should not be compromised
Protect your data. Confidential business information should be kept out of the marketplace
