The PC maker will offer desktops and servers powered by AMD processors, starting in September.Dell will broaden its relationship with Advanced Micro Devices processors, starting in September.
The Round Rock, Texas, PC maker on Aug. 17 said it would launch a line of Dimension consumer desktops containing AMD's chips in September.
It will also add a two-socket AMD Opteron machine to its server line by the end of the year, the company said in its second fiscal quarter earnings statement.
Dell had previously announced a plan to deliver AMD processor-based servers by the end of 2006.
However, it had only indicated a plan to offer multiprocessor machines, expected to include four Opterons.
Now the company says it will offer both two and four processor machines.
