CDW's Server Virtualization Life Cycle Report compiles results of a survey of nearly 400 IT managers, from companies with 100 or more employees, about server virtualization. The report showed that the vast majority of organizations are in some stage or another of implementing server virtualization, but even the best have room to improve.
1. Everyone is Virtualizing
90% of organizations are implementing server virtualization at some level.
2.Planning Underway
87% of respondents have a plan that identifies server candidates for virtualization as well as an implementation roadmap.
3.A Process, Not an Event
Of those organizations that have fully or partially deployed solutions,73% of respondents began virtualizing in 2007 and 2008.
4.Goals Attained
54% say they have completed their deployment.
5.Left Undone
Even "fully deployed" organizations say that only 37% of their infrastructure consists of virtual servers.
