Even though most workers want to work from home at times and some would even take a pay cut to do so, more than half never get the opportunity to unshackle themselves from the office desk, according to a recent survey commissioned by Citrix Online and conducted by the firm inc./WomanTrend. Check out the results, compiled from questioning of 600 workers worldwide.
Only 19 % of US workers are frequently given the opportunity to work remotely. About 22 % are infrequently given the opportunity.
A whopping 56 % of US workers are never given the opportunity to work remotely.
Nearly three-quarters of US workers agreed with the statement, “In my current or next job, I would like to have the ability to work remotely.”
One-fifth of US workers said they would relinquish 5 % of their salary for the opportunity to work remotely as little as two days per week.
More than 35 % of workers said one of the biggest draws to web commuting was the ability set their own hours and have more control over their days
Approximately 20 % of workers cited transportation savings as a big benefit to web commuting
Top three reasons managers cite for blocking telecommuting:They feel workers won’t be as productive out of the office: 15 %They believe remote working hampers relationship building: 19 %They think they need workers in the office or on site: 38 %
Small business owners are more than four times as likely as other types of workers to work from home all of the time.
Two-thirds of small business owners show some willingness to allowing employees to participate in meetings from home
