What it means: Geeks choose to work with machines over people because they like the predictability of machines. People are hard to fathom because they're more inconsistent than computers, something which scares technologists sometimes, Glen says. Managers sensitive to this quirk can get the most out of their IT workers by allowing independent work when possible and shielding them from people-driven corporate politics.
