What it means: Many technologists have a very black and white view of the world. In their eyes you're either a genius or a goat, Glen says. Some actions put managers at risk of being categorized in the latter group forevermore, such as pretending to know about something of which they're completely ignorant . Avoiding these actions can prevent the “kiss of death,” whereupon a manager is branded an idiot and dismissed as such by his techies.
