Hold the Champagne: The grim days of the recession seem to be behind us, but that does not indicate a surge in IT hiring any time soon. While few CIOs are planning to make staffing cuts, the vast majority aren't looking to add staff either, according to a new survey from Robert Half Technology.

23% of CIOs within finance/insurance/real estate plan to expand their IT departments – the most among industry sectors.

Nearly 80% of CIOs are confident in growth prospects.

40% of CIOs are optimistic their firms will invest in new IT projects in thenext three months.

45% of CIOs say finding skilled IT pros is challenging.

31% of CIOs worry they'll lose top performers to other jobs in the next year.

64% of CIOs say network administration is the most in-demand skill set within their department.

63% said desktop support was the most in-demand skill (multiple answers were allowed on this question).

15% of CIOs say it's most challenging to find skilled IT pros for network needs.

12% say it's most challenging to find skilled IT pros for security needs.

11% of CIOs say it's most challenging to find skilled IT pros for data/database management needs.
