By Dennis McCafferty on 2010-06-02

Stalking recruiters! Deceiving co-workers! Stealing credit! For some tech workers, it's "anything goes" in getting a job, promotion or raise, according to a new survey from the IT Job Board. We know you are not the people doing these things, but maybe you have met a few of them along the way -- and maybe you still work with some now, or have some applying for your job.

23% of IT workers say it's fine to participate in underhanded or otherwise "out of the ordinary" tactics to get a job.

15% say such tactics are necessary because the job market is so tough.

Nearly 80% would gain inside secrets about a company to get a job.

62% would hide from colleagues that they’re applying for an opening, to keep competition down.

35% say they'd phone a recruiter continuously to get a job interview.

13% say they'd visit a recruiter's premises and refuse to leave until they were seen.

Over 20% say they're fine with claiming someone else's work as their own.

32% of IT workers would create a problem so they could fix it and earn brownie points.

58% would butter up the boss to get a raise or promotion over colleagues.
