IT Employees Feeling More Confident

A new survey from Technisource says moods are lifting in the IT shop. After a rough 2009, workers feel more confident about their own company's prospects. And even though they feel better equipped to find a new job, most want to stay put—for now.

51.6 is the current "IT Employee Confidence Index" reading, up nearly a point from the end of 2009.

39.7 was the lowest reading for the confidence survey over the last year, in the thick of the 2009 recession.

32% of tech workers think the economy is getting stronger, up from 29 percent in the previous survey.

21% of IT workers from age 45-54 feel the economy is getting stronger—the lowest percentage among age demographics.

63% of IT workers feel confident about their employer's future.

Over 70% of women are confident about their employer's future, compared to only 60% of men.

41% of IT workers have faith in their ability to find a new job, up by 2%.

31% of IT workers aged 18-34 are confident they could find a new job—the lowest percentage among all age groups.

More than half of workers 45 years or older feel good about their ability to find a new job—the highest percentage among age groups.

32% of IT workers are likely to look for new jobs within the next year, down by 6%.

Men are more than twice as likely to be looking for a new job than women㬡% compared to 16%.
